Principal’s Honours

Principal’s Honours is a school recognition award at Roleystone Community College. It acknowledges students who consistently show strong academic effort, regular attendance, and positive behaviour in line with our values to Respect, Challenge and Contribute.

The purpose of Principal’s Honours is to highlight and celebrate success in a way that feels genuine and meaningful. By recognising students who meet clear expectations, the award helps make success visible, supports positive role modelling, and reinforces the behaviours and learning habits we value as a school community.

 

Who is eligible?

Students are eligible for Principal’s Honours if they:

  • Achieve a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.00 or higher for the year

  • Maintain regular attendance (over 80% across the year)

  • Consistently demonstrate positive behaviour, reflecting our goals to Respect, Challenge and Contribute

 

How students are recognised

Students who meet the criteria receive a Principal’s Honours lapel pin for that year. Awards are presented at a College assembly at the beginning of the following school year, giving us the chance to come together to acknowledge effort, achievement, and commitment.

Students are encouraged to wear their pin throughout the year on the lapel of their school shirt or jacket. This helps build a culture where effort and positive choices are noticed and valued.

 

How GPA works

A student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) is worked out by giving each subject grade a numerical value and then averaging those values across all learning areas for the year.

Grades are converted as follows:

  • A = 5

  • B = 4

  • C = 3

  • D = 2

  • E = 1

A GPA of 4.00 or higher means a student has achieved strong, consistent results across their subjects.

 

Principal’s Honours reflects our belief that doing well, showing up, and contributing positively matters - and that these things are worth noticing and celebrating.
