Academic Challenge

At its core, the Roleystone Academic Extension Program provides opportunities for students to learn and challenge themselves in Science and Mathematics, Humanties and English.

At Roleystone Community College, we understand the need to challenge students and look for ways to engage and extend students. Students involved in our Academic Extension Programs are provided with an enriching and challenging learning program designed to engage academically able students. Students are provided with opportunities to engage in activities which provide them with the tools required to develop critical and creative thinking skills.

Our Academic Extension Programs are for selected students to study in the two areas of Mathematics and Science, Humanities and English as a unified group from Year 7-10. Students may enrol in one or both of the Academic Extension Programs depending on their academic needs: • Maths and Science • Humanities and English.  All placements will be made on the basis of individual performance in the Academic Extension testing (completed in Year 6), school reports and attendance. Maintaining a place in the Academic Extension Programs is based on the ongoing assessment throughout the course. Continued success in subject areas is vital for continued enrolment in the program.
