Recently our year 8 students in Science were set an interesting challenge, to creatively design and build a highly effective thermos flask, for a hot drink.
Using recycled and spare parts to build the flask, the students had to use their knowledge of heat transfer and energy efficiency along with their critical thinking skills to reduce the rate at which hot water inside of the thermos lost heat.
Congratulations to Isabella Wolfenden, Cameron Dempsey, and Matthew Bolton, for constructing the winning design across all three classes, with a temperature decrease of just 0.4C/minute.
Well done to everyone who attempted the task.
