Recently our Year 10 Specialist Film and Television students visited the Mount Lawley campus of Edith Cowan University, on an excursion which focused on the industry-leading film and broadcast facilities that are part of the Screen Studies offered at the university. The visit, which tied in with the student’s Certificate 2 in Creative Industries (Media) course, included a guided tour with information on equipment and a visit to numerous studios and editing suites.
Dr. Cathy Henkel, the Director of the WA Screen Academy was also on hand to outline pathways for future study and show examples of work produced by the students of the ECU courses.
Plans are in place to discuss ways of cementing future visits and partnership opportunities between our two campuses.
RCC would like to thank Mr Raz Islam for hosting our students and allowing us a creative and technical look at the lighting, cinematography and post-facilities that he helps manage. Thanks also to Miss Alexandra Nell, who showed the students the ‘wardrobe’ of costumes she manages as part of her work, some of which we will be allowed to use for our upcoming ‘period drama’ music video shoot.
Stay tuned for more updates about the music video the Year 10’s are producing in the coming weeks.
