Festival of Maths logo

This fantastic festival which promoted problem solving, fluency and some other great Mathematical activities, culminated in our Maths Speed Challenge on Thursday 29 July.

But it wasn’t without some hiccups and some thinking ‘outside the box’, as bad weather was not going to spoil our challenge party, after it was postponed because of the COVID lockdown at the end of Term 2.
So technological whiz Mr Brookes ran the final via Microsoft Teams, with the finalists and their parents in the staff room, Year 1-3 students in Block 4 and Year 4-6 students in Block 5.
The virtual event worked very well and congratulations to all of our finalists for their efforts in making it happen. RCC’s inaugural and overall winner was Year 6 student, Oliver Dlugi from Room 5.2. Congratulations Oliver and well done to Year 4 student Kura Smith-Torenbeeck from Room 4.1 for coming in a close second. Kura also helped his class take the honours for the best performed class throughout the Festival of Maths. His teacher Miss Gorey is very proud of her students.
Thank you Mr Talbot and your crew for all your hard work making this Festival happen – it was an outstanding success.
