Wow - Term 4 is off and running at RCC, with lots of activities in the first two weeks and more interesting and fun things still to come.
Book Week kicked the term off. The theme this year is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’, and our students in Pre-Primary to Year 6 loved the performance of ‘The Greatest Discovery’ presented by ‘Perform Educational Musicals’ and enthusiastically got involved in the music and dancing.
On Monday 19th, our students arrived to find a very curious and mysterious nest in the bush near Block 5, full of large silver eggs, huge footprints and sloppy looking green poo that smelt of spearmint! What kind of curious creature could have done this! Investigations are ongoing, but the incredible find encouraged our students to write creative stories about the mystery of the curious eggs. The winners of the creative writing competition were:

Pre-Primary     Grace Miscandlon  Rm 2.3
Year 1              Flynn Lovett           Rm 2.1
                        Seth Roberts          Rm 2.5
Year 2              Zhen Yi Sew           Rm 3.4
Year 3              Reef Makin             Rm 4.6
Year 4              Devin Goodman     Rm 4.1
                        Darcy Wood            Rm 4.1
Year 5              Hailey Marchetti      Rm 5.5
Year 6              Mallory Dunn          Rm 5.2

Students were also surprised to find their teachers had turned into curious creatures, and there were some amazing creatures lurking in classrooms all day on Monday!
Throughout the week our students read lots of books, received some creature stickers, invited special guests to read books about curious creatures, watched animations, listened to music and got creative drawing and making curious creatures.
In the library, students discovered some curious creatures had destroyed some books, and using clues the students had to work out which books needed to be replaced. The winning class, was Room 5.3, Ms Quinn and Mrs Paice’s Year 6 students. Well done!
Constable Care also visited RCC, with our Yr 1 and 2 students and Ms Parsons Year 3’s learning about Protective Behaviours, and how to tell the difference between fun scary things and unsafe scary things. Topics being taught throughout the term 4 Health program.
Such a busy start to the term 4 at RCC.
