Recently our Digital Media students, in Year 9 and 10, took part in filming and producing a music video, for award winning Fremantle artist, Lincoln MacKinnon.
Our students, along with Specialist Teacher, Daniel Holliday, and a large cast and crew, spent a weekend shooting the music video, working from 4 o’clock in the afternoon till way into the wee midnight hours, on location at Brockway’s orchard, in Roleystone.
The production, featuring costumes, loaned from the ECU’s Mount Lawley Campus, and a number of props, some handmade, was the culmination of months of planning and development in conjunction with Lincoln MacKinnon.
The project goes towards our Year 10 students gaining their Certificate 2 in Creative Industries, and is a crucial part of their studies.
Mr Holliday said that working at industry standard was both very challenging and exciting for all the students involved in the project. He was very proud to pass on to his students, some very well deserved recognition from the industry mentors on set that also praised his students hard work ethic over the weekend.
The students will now begin the edit process and are expected to create their own versions of the music video, as part of their studies.
Lincoln MacKinnon’s clip will be produced for distribution through his record label, with a date for the video’s release to be confirmed.
RCC thanks the Brockway Family for their support in the project and allowing the film crew free reign on the property to create what they needed for the music video, which included digging a number of grave sites. We can’t wait to see the end result!
