The year 9 students at Roleystone Community College recently took part in a workshop to learn about the latest technology in flight that is proving extremely popular with aviation enthusiasts, photographers and amateurs alike - drones.
Incorporating the values of STEM which supports problem solving in robotics, coding and software programming, the workshop challenged the students to communicate and collaborate together in groups or pairs, to program a drone to fly and to perform stunts.
Fire Tech Australia provided the hardware and expertise, along with the ‘hands on’ help.
The students were enthusiastic and interested and when it came time to fly the drone, many of them were able to program the device to flip end over end, while all of them were successful at launching one into the air.
