This Term the Year 3 classes in Block 4 entered a Tree Decorating Competition for the Perth Hills Festival, as it complemented their studies in Food and Fibre as part of the Design and Technology Curriculum.
The students also learnt about the lifecycle of fruit trees and how fruit gets from the orchard to the markets and then to us, and about the different fruit that is grown in the region of Roleystone and Karragullen.
The tree the students designed depicts the four different seasons and what fruits are produced in each season and what happens to the fruit trees during the seasons.
The result was a stunning 1.2-metre-tall tree which impressed the judges and just got pipped for first place.
Congratulations to everyone involved in creating the beautiful tree.
It will be on display at the Perth Hills Festival on October 12 at Karragullen.
