On Friday, 18 June, 82 Year 5 and 6 RCC students took part in this year’s DDSA Winter Carnival, competing in Soccer (2 teams), Hockey (1 team), Netball (2 teams) and AFL (2 teams). Our students had been training really hard over the past term and they were rewarded for their efforts by being able to provide serious competition to the other schools; Armadale, Kelmscott, Westfield Park and Challis.
In the AFL competition, our players demonstrated some outstanding skills, and produced some fantastic results, placing a close third and fourth on the day. Thank you to Coaches Mr Gaunt and Miss Bennetts.
The Hockey team had some outstanding games and wins throughout the day. They were accompanied by Coach Mr Leo-Hyatt, who was very proud of the team’s excellent positional play and teamwork.
The Netball competition was hosted at Roleystone CC, and it was a great success. RCC had two teams, coached by Mrs Paice and Miss Sutherland, with both squads in excellent form and every student playing to the best of their ability all day.
Coaches Miss Quinn and Mr Fox took 26 students to Westfield Park, to compete in the Soccer comp. Both Roleystone teams demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, team cohesion and physical resilience playing back-to-back games, in a tough day. Well done for demonstrating a high level of skills and sportsmanship.
The Roleystone Health and Physical Education department would like to thank all staff and parent volunteers who helped out on the day to ensure an enthusiastic, positive, and supportive carnival for the students.
