Roleystone Community College hosted a visit from Ms Lisa Rodgers, Director General, Department of Education, and Mr Jim Bell, the Deputy Director on Tuesday 24 May.
COVID-19 restrictions last year and the lock-down in Term 1 this year, delayed Ms Rodgers trip ‘up the hill’.
Mr Brookes and our Executive Team enjoyed taking Ms Rodgers and Mr Bell on a tour of our sprawling campus, which allowed them time to soak up some of Roleystone’s unique sounds and smells, enjoy our bush setting, and visit some classrooms.
They ‘walked’ onto a film set in our Media Room, and enjoyed a performance of an assembly item by a Year 1 class. Ms Rodgers and Mr Bell also met and had a chat with some of our Year 7 art students and a Year 3 Creative and Critical Thinking class. They even got to meet our gorgeous Story Dog Fergus!
The visit also gave Mr Brookes a chance to talk with them about our proposed new covered Gymnasium/Performance area, promised by the McGowan Government when it won the State election in March this year.
Mr Brookes was very proud of our students’ exemplary behaviour during the visit and how clean and tidy the grounds of the College looked. He was a very proud Principal and thanked everyone for whatever effort they had in making the visit such a great success.
