On Tuesday 26 October, at the Ray Owen Centre in Lesmurdie, Roleystone Community College’s Warrior Woman Team pitted their STEM Robotics skills against 7 other school teams in the STEM Super Heroes Vs Super Villains’ Challenge of the Century.
On the day of the challenge our team, led by RCC’s own Wonder Woman, Mrs Littlewood, showcased their skills brilliantly, and our Super students excelled in their competitiveness and behaviour. Mrs Littlewood and Principal Mark Brookes were both so proud of them and to be a part of the RCC team. Thanks and well done to Ruby Ipock, Zeva Mamakos, Shyla Kosikowski, Callan Hutchinson, Kiera Cirillo, Riley Bijsterbosch, Rebecca Yates and Libby Littley.
The College’s Digital Media Year 9 film crew also attended the super special day, filming each school competing in the challenge. All attending schools will be presented with a video for their websites, so watch this space for our super film!
This is a huge task for our Digital Media students, and the competing schools and dignitaries who attended on the day were absolutely blown away by the professionalism and skills on display by our students. Well done to Jaxon Warwick, Riley Bijsterbosch, James Kidd, Jameson O’Brien, Briana Whitworth and Ella Carr. For more information about the brilliant Roleystone Academy of Digital Media, head to the Specialist Programs tab on the front page of the website.
Next week during lunchtime, our Warrior Woman Team will again come together with their Lego robots to showcase their coding skills to the whole school. They will again attempt to defeat the four villains, Egg Foo, Cheetah, Ares and Medusa, by knocking them off the Warrior Woman mat with their robots. This will be an excellent opportunity to help encourage other students to get motivated to learn about Digital Technologies, which is fun, interesting and super mind bending!
