PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Roleystone Community College is an Independent Public School set in the hills region 30 minutes east of the Perth CBD. We have a beautiful, well equipped K-10 campus set in natural bushland under a District High School model. We provide a comprehensive education for all students in those age groups supported by our College values of Respect, Challenge and Contribute.

I have four key beliefs that underpin my philosophies in education:

  1. Every student can and will progress at Roleystone Community College and it is the teachers’ and school leaders’ responsibility to ensure this progress occurs.
  2. All members of the school community should role model positive behaviours.
  3. I work under a no deficit model. That is, we do not blame outside influences for why a student is not learning to the best of their ability.
  4. Presume positive intent. I am still to come across a situation where any teacher or member of the school community has deliberately done something to make things more difficult for a child at school. By presuming positive intent, problems can be addressed quicker and more efficiently.

I welcome and encourage the Roleystone community to be a part of the College community. Roleystone Community College is a community asset and we have many opportunities for parents to be involved in the College through our P&C, School Board or College events.

Roleystone Community College provides an excellent breadth of opportunities for all students at the college. The college has an academic focus on ensuring all students progress and achieve to the best of their ability.

Secondary students at the College have the opportunity to be a part of one of our Approved Specialist Programs:

Roleystone Academic Extension Program
Provides opportunities for students to learn and challenge themselves in the two areas of Mathematics and Science, Humanities and English as a unified group from Year 7-10.

Roleystone Academy of Digital Media is designed for students from Year 8 to 10 with specialised training in all facets of digital media and film making which extends student's skills in all aspects of the area including distribution.

Roleystone Advanced Netball Program is designed to allow students to further develop their skills, knowledge and passion for the sport of Netball.

All of these programs are available for application from students outside of the Roleystone area.
With talented students, excellent facilities and very capable and highly qualified teachers, I believe that Roleystone Community College is poised to become the outstanding school of choice in the hills area.
I look forward to meeting with you throughout the community.
